Transition to 4th Grade

Transition can be challenging, but here at CHCS there are several things we do to support students and families with the transition to fourth grade.

• Transition Meetings: SRE guidance counselors meet with CHCS counselors to provide information to support students transitioning to CHCS.  There are also special transition meetings for any families with students on IEPs.  

• Step-Up Day:  May 31st - 3rd Graders receive a tour CHCS and hear more about the school day. They have an opportunity to meet the CHCS faculty and have any questions answered.

• FAQ's - A list of common student questions for the grade 3 to 4 transition will be shared with students in their current classes.  The answers were created by former students in conjunction with our 4th grade teachers and guidance counselors. 

• Additional Tours - In June, small group tours of CHCS to further familiarize students with the building are provided by some of the special education staff as needed.  

• Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year Packet - In early August, packets that contain information about placement, arrival and dismissal procedures and other important information will be mailed home.   Please review the packet carefully and let us know if you have any questions. 

• 4th Grade Orientation Night:  Orientation night for 4th graders and their families was held on August 24th at 6:00 pm.  Click here to review the presentation.
