Can you imagine our entire school community – our teachers, librarians, students, staff, and parents – all reading the same terrific children’s book at the same time?

We are planning to share an excellent children’s novel together this fall!  Research supports that reading aloud to children at any age is a great way to encourage a love of reading, develop longer attention spans, teach vocabulary, model fluency, foster empathy, and share quality time together.

Please join us this year as we read aloud, discuss, and explore our chosen book. We will provide a book for each student, as well as a schedule of chapters to read aloud each night together.  Trust that sharing this story will encourage a love for reading and a shared community conversation.  We will begin this program on October 21st, so families, please be ready to help share our enthusiasm by participating in this school-wide event.

To add to the excitement a Kick-off Assembly will be held on Friday, October 21st. Students will learn the title of the selected children’s book and celebrate with a special guest, closing with each student receiving a copy of the book. Additionally,  to make this successful for everyone, each week we will have a “mystery reader” read a chapter that can be viewed on our website during the two months we will be reading together.  Throughout the fall, I will be inviting guest readers within our community to participate in our “One School, One Story” program.

Let's celebrate the importance of reading!

Sincerely, Robert Kuhn

Parent pick up

Dismissal Procedure

Families new to the dismissal procedure please read through these guidelines. The parent pick up room during dismissal time, 3:00PM, will be accessed at the back of the school building using the exterior door nearest the playground. The door will be clearly marked the first week of school with signs and balloons. This will give parents additional parking, between 40 to 50, as well as address safety concerns created by the volume of traffic at the end of the school day. The exterior door will be unlocked at 2:55PM for parent access.

Parents will enter and exit the back parking lot one of two ways, using the State Street access road or the road nearest to Little Fenway baseball field.

As you enter the back of the building you will enter the C side cafeteria which is a short distance from the exit door. The pick-up room will be reversed and parents will be able to sit at the first four tables as you enter.

IMPORTANT: Morning drop off, parents will drop their child off at the front main entrance to Swift River where Mrs. Farrington and Mr. Kuhn stand.

Below you will find a map of the traffic pattern around the school during dismissal time. The location of the Student Pick-Up Room is identified with a star on the map.

Please note, parent(s) that needs to pick their child up earlier than dismissal time will park in front to access the Main Office. Please be aware not to park in the fire lanes, instead use the visitor parking to walk in. Thank you in advance for respecting our process.
