JBMS visit to CHCS Grade 6 Classrooms<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, May 27th, 20 eighth grade students visited the 6th grade classrooms at CHCS. The 6th graders submitted a series of questions in advance of the visit. JBMS staff, including Ms. Parker, Mr. Davis, Ms. Ammann & Mr. Baecher shared the questions with the 8th graders and spent time preparing them to answer as many questions as they could.<\/p>\n
The 8th graders spent time sharing their own experiences when transitioning from CHCS.\u00a0 They described what they were nervous about and what supports were available to help them make a smooth transition. JBMS students and staff then broke up into smaller groups, with the JBMS 8th graders leading a small group discussion, answering questions and providing advice about how best to prepare for middle school.<\/p>\n
Transition Events to support incoming 7th grade students and guardians\/families in transitioning to JBMS:<\/strong><\/p>\n Incoming seventh grade parents and guardians are invited to attend an\u00a0information night at Jabish Brook Middle School on\u00a0Wednesday<\/em>, June 3rd from 5:00-6:00 pm.<\/strong>\u00a0(Time adjusted to accommodate the CHCS Showcase) in our music assembly. JBMS seventh grade teachers and staff will be present to provide an overview of expectations and norms for the transition to middle school.<\/p>\n On June 8th and June 9th, Current 6th grade students will be visiting Jabish Brook Middle School for a Step Up Day visit during the school day. Students will be introduced to JBMS Administrators and School Counselors, along with student led tours around the building to seventh grade classrooms.<\/p>\n On Friday, August 28th, from 8-3 pm, JBMS will be open for all Grade 6-8 students and families, with counseling staff, administrators and volunteer teachers.\u00a0 All JBMS students, guardians and families are invited to a school-wide visitation day and picnic. Tours are available, classrooms will be open and some teaching staff will be present to assist with the tours and to answer questions. A printed copy of student schedules will be available, with room numbers labeled and classroom locations designated for all classrooms. Specialist classrooms such as band, stem, art will also be available to view. The gym, cafeteria, music assembly will also be open.<\/p>\n Information will be published and updated to our school website and via email, including question\/answer information over the summer in advance of these August dates.
