ASVAB Test

 

Are you interested in the military or need more detailed career exploration information? The ASVAB test will be administered here at BHS on Wednesday, November 19th, beginning at 7:45 am. The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Career Exploration Program is a FREE comprehensive career planning program that includes a multiple aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career planning tools. This is a requirement for those students who wish to pursue a career in the armed forces.  Stop by the Counseling Office for further information and/or to sign up.  The last day to sign up is Monday, November 17th.  In order to take this test you must be at least 16 years old.

 

 

Scholarship Opportunity for Juniors

The 2025-2026 Coolidge Scholarship application is now live.

The Coolidge Scholarship is a full-ride, four-year merit scholarship that recipients may use for undergraduate study at any accredited college or university in the United States.  Any high school junior who plans to enroll in college in the fall of 2027 and is an American citizen or legal permanent resident is eligible to apply (current high school seniors are not eligible to apply).  Winners may use the scholarship to pursue any academic major.

Academic excellence is the primary criterion considered by the Coolidge Scholarship.  Secondary criteria include an interest in public policy and an appreciation of the values President Coolidge championed.  Successful candidates will also demonstrate humility and have a record of genuine service to their communities.  A complete description of the scholarship’s criteria, along with the online application and much more information, is available at coolidgescholars.org.

 

The submission deadline is 5:00 PM Pacific time, Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

 College/Military/Trade School Visits for Seniors

College visits will be held in the Counseling Office. The list of college visits is posted outside of the Counseling Office, in the Student Memo, and at the link below.  Seniors must be seriously interested in learning more about the visiting colleges in order to attend.  Passes can be obtained in the Counseling Office the morning of the visit.  Seniors will be allowed to attend at the discretion of the class educator.

College Information Seminar and Financial Aid Night Presentations

Financial Aid Night

 

 

Financial Aid Night was held on Monday, October 7th, in the Veterans’ Memorial Auditorium.  A representative from the Massachusetts Educational Finance Authority (MEFA) shared information on types and sources of financial aid, the application process, how financial decisions are made, paying for college, and free resources.  Click on the link below to view the Financial Aid 101 presentation.  Contact your school counselor with questions.

Alumni Transcript Requests

If you are a graduate of BHS or attended BHS and you need a copy of your transcript, you can either email (preferred) the Administrative Assistant at ldrawec@belchertownps.org or call the BHS School Counseling Office at 413-323-9419 Extension 5200.

You must provide the following information in your email or telephone message (please speak clearly).

Graduation Name/Maiden Name

Year of Graduation or Attendance Dates

Email or address of where your transcript is to be sent

Your email address

Your telephone number

Please note colleges/universities will not accept transcripts from applicants.  They will only accept transcripts directly from high schools.

Learner's Permit Documents

Documents required by the Registry of Motor Vehicles can be obtained by calling or emailing Ms. Drawec, the Administrative Assistant in the School Counseling Office. She can provide students with the necessary documents that are accepted by the RMV – Official Enrollment Verification Letter and Official Transcript. You may contact Ms. Drawec by phone at 413-323-9419 extension 5200 or by email at ldrawec@belchertownps.org. You will need to provide the student’s name, an email address where these documents can be sent, and a phone number in case there are any questions.

Work Permits

Work permits are issued in the Superintendent’s Office at the Belchertown Public Schools Central Office, 14 Maple Street, Belchertown. The hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. The phone number is 323-0423 extension 100.  You must have a job prior to obtaining a work permit.
