It is the responsibility of the Belchertown Public School District to locate, identify, and evaluate any Belchertown child who may have a disability. Regardless of the severity of the disability, it is the Belchertown Public School District’s responsibility to determine if the child is eligible for special education or related services under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) or 306 CMR 28 (Massachusetts Special Education Regulations).  Referrals may come from a parent, physician, preschool program, or Early Intervention services.

The Belchertown Public School District is committed to identifying children before their third birthday in order to provide services for three and four year olds. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s development and would like to have him/her screened, please call Student Support Services at (413) 323-0423 x112.

If you have any concerns about a school-aged child, please contact the building Principal for information about the Educational Support Team (EST) process available to your child.
